Battle of Flowers returns to Victoria Avenue in 2026

Battle of Flowers, a festival held on Victoria Avenue every year between 1951 and 2024, will return to this iconic space in 2026 after the more intimate city centre edition. organisers chose this location for reasons of safety, logistics and cost, while promising a free and equally interactive event for the public.

Battle of Flowers returns to Victoria Avenue in 2026

One of the most emblematic flower festivals in Europe, Battle of Flowers, is ready to return to the well-known Victoria Ave in 2026, after in 2025 the parade took place for the first time in the city centre. The decision was taken by Jersey Battle of Flowers Association, based on safety, logistics and cost considerations.

the president of the association, Martyn Maguire, explained that although the parade in the city was enthusiastically received and brought more intimacy and interaction with the public, holding the event in the central streets raised security and organizational issues. In addition, the additional costs of street closures, signage and safety were difficult to sustain for an organisation that already had major debt to manage after the 2024 edition.

Victoria Ave offers the advantage of being able to receive much larger allegorical chariots, up to 35 feet, but also a more airy setting, which allows the public to better admire the beauty and creativity of the floral decorations. At the same time, the organisers confirmed that the parade will be free to the public and they aim to keep the feeling of closeness and interactivity with the spectators, as happened in the city centre.

Economy Minister Kirsten Morel pointed out that there is still a debate on the connection between the event and the city centre, but the government will work with the organisers to find the best format for the event.

For the florist community, the return to Victoria Avenue means a new opportunity to see the creativity of floral artists at work in a spectacular setting, where the colours, smells and energy of the festival can be experienced at full intensity. 🌸
